Journey to Kabukiran: A Day in the Farm

Ever since we join homeschool coop around our area, the activities were indeniably fun and a wonderful experience not just for me but also for my daughter. Just before the school year started, our new school provide us a wonderful experience to the farm life. The location of the farm is just less than an hour drive from my place so I was excited upon knowing that we can join the group for this Kabukiran experience. At first I have doubts that my daughter would not be happy since we have to do a little trekking going up to the site. I also have initial thoughts fearing that she would not be comfortable being with a lot of people.

All of my fears were set aside when I met the group early in the morning. We just arrived just in time before the trekking started. I was appalled with the hospitality that our Administrator have done from ensuring that my daughter can go up not just by holding her but also cheering her. My daughter was not used to heights and she is afraid of going up, much more with no definite steps to walk onto. But she was able to surpass that mini challenge because of Ms Wea. I was grateful and felt relief that this was really the best decision to join that day. I wasn't expecting that much either but we really have a great time!

First, we were welcome by Mr and Mrs Salvio in their farm and talk about a little back story with how it started. Then we were given assignments, kids were group into their task and even set up the tent. I don't have one but luckily one of the family shared their tent to us. Food preparation were assigned to kids spearheaded by daddy's of each family. My daughter was assigned to cook barbecue. I know she wouldn't be troublesome but I don't know exactly how she will be able to help. Fortunately, their leader was capable of handling kids!

I took the liberty to take some snaps and video, so you can watch it here: A Day in the life of JOF Homeschoolers: Journey to Kabukiran

The kids were impressive with how they do their task as a team and how we were able to have a sumptous lunch because of it. Afternoon was filled with sharing, art activity and even fun play. My daughter instantly gain friends and I am thankful for those kids who really take time to mingle with her. It is heartwarming for me as a mom whenever I see kids who doesn't shrug away my super friendly daughter. It breaks my heart whenever she felt sad even upset when someone doesn't want to include her. That's why I always observe first before I leave her with newfound friends.

After the tiring activity but full of wisdom and new experience I can't help but wish for another coop activity with this bunch of people. My daughter really have a great time and an added memory core to our homeschooling adventure.
