Twin Date at Mesa SM City Lipa

It was always a buzz whenever I heard Mesa Filipino Moderne. They always tell that the food is great and not that expensive. I haven't tried it yet since I rarely go to SM City Lipa. But last Sunday, upon getting the prizes which I won from #SMGlobalPinoy I realize that I should give it a try.

When I enter the restaurant, it give me a feeling of closeness and not so cozy interior. Maybe because the restaurant doesn't have a wide space for tables and guests. Knowing that Mesa PH is known for great food, I was expecting that the ambiance is also inviting. Our table was located near the kitchen so the crew is walking to and from on our sides. Since it is a narrowed area, if it's not for the highly upholstered chairs, we might be eating in a noisy surrounding.

I like the fact that the food is served in just a few minutes. Although we were advised that the waiting time is 10 - 15 minutes, it just arrived right in time. We ordered three variant, a good for sharing platter since we're only 5 who will be having lunch that time.

Sinigang na Hipon in Guava and Pineapple

My favorite dish is Sinigang na Hipon when it comes to Sinigang. But this sinigang is cooked using guava and pineapple as "paasim". It is quite sour and has a sweet taste too. The right mixture of soup while munching the shrimps with rice.

Grilled Liempo, the Mesa Way

We also ordered the Grilled Liempo, one of Mesa's signature dish instead of ordering the Crispy Pata (which made me regret since we still want to try some of the dishes that day). What I notice with this one is that it doesn't have the soy sauce for it, a vinegar perhaps? It can be for 1 person only because the strips are small to be shared by two. So if you are planning to order this menu, make sure to order atleast two!

Sisig with Egg

Of course we wouldn't want to let the sisig pass. So I ordered a platter too! Apparently, the sisig is "puro taba" but it tastes good medyo bitin lang talaga if shared by two persons.

If it weren't for the jam packed place of the restaurant, I might say I can give them a 4.5 star rating so far. I think that they it should be more spacious if given a chance to renovate so that customers can enjoy well their dining. Food is okay and I want to try other menu because there are variety of food to choose from. If only they have a branch here at SM City Batangas too, I might always dine in.
